The Role  

This is a key role on the Development team, responsible for managing a portfolio of grant applications and reports, working towards a team goal of growing and sustaining JVS’s grants of $15M in funding. This role is ideal for an early-stage nonprofit fundraiser with attention to detail and a desire to grow in Institutional Relationship management. 

Scope 

Grant Writing 
  • Write Letters of Intent (LOIs) and grant applications to foundations and corporations for general support and program support requests 
  • Manage proposal development, including research, data collection, writing, and budget development in collaboration with other teams at JVS including the Executive Team, HR, Finance, Evaluation and Impact, Program, and others 
  • Create and prepare attachments for grant applications and site visits 
  • Create and upload documents into grant portals for grant submissions 
  • Ensure that grant documents (proposals, reports, deliverables, etc.) and funder communications are appropriately saved in SharePoint and Salesforce 

Research/Prospecting 
  • Research and organize external reports, studies, and media coverage relevant to JVS’s programs for use in grant reports and applications 
  • Prospect foundation and corporate funding opportunities 

Other 
  • Contribute to the development of JVS’s strategy to grow foundation and government 

Minimum Qualifications 
 
  •  Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines and objectives 
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; strong presentation skills and strong persuasive writing skills;  
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team and across the organization to manage projects in a high functioning, fast-paced environment 
  • Inquisitive knowledge seeker excited to look for new tools and ways of learning  
  • Basic research, analytical, data management skills 
  • Strong computer proficiency  
  • MS Office Suite  
  • Salesforce 
  • Relational Databases (e.g. SharePoint, Asana, LastPass) 
  • Slack 
  • Internet research abilities  
  • Excellent customer service skills, able to interact professionally with a diverse population of stakeholders and colleagues 
  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment 
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience grant writing and/or related fundraising roles 
  • Demonstrated experience managing a time-focused, deliverables-focused job 
 
Preferred Qualifications  
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience 
  • Experience in fundraising or grant proposal development

  • Annual Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
